The day is waning
And with it my life
My passion
My freedom
And in its wake
It takes time away from me
I flee down the road
Hoping to escape time
But I am fleeing towards the setting sun
And as I race
The trees
They turn from beautiful emerald green
And slowly into red
I sprint away
My sandals slapping the concrete
But they turn into squeaky clean shoes
And the leaves turn red
I stop in my tracks
And leave the darkness
To envelop me in its eerie quiet.

For there is nothing I can do
And the darkness takes me over.
